A Data-First Design System for Large-Scale Analytics

Valuenex operates on a sophisticated analytics engine powered by one of the world’s most comprehensive patent and research databases, enabling deep market, competitive, and technology intelligence. However, the existing interface was dense, difficult to navigate, and constrained users’ ability to interpret insights across devices. The mandate was to radically simplify the experience without diluting its analytical power, while ensuring performance and clarity across both desktop and mobile environments.

As Principal Designer, I partnered directly with UX leadership and engineering teams in Japan to define a new foundational design language for the platform. This began with deep discovery across user roles, workflows, and analytical tasks to understand how different audiences searched, filtered, compared, and synthesized high-volume IP data. From this, I helped establish a modular, scalable interface system optimized for high-density information, progressive disclosure, and analytical sensemaking.
